For those who are seeking quality food, it is so important to know the source. Just the other day I was speaking with a gentleman who has a son that worked on an organic farm for a time that raised potatoes. This means they were a certified organic farm according to the government standards. It so happened that this farm and the other farms in the area were noted for being exceptionally green – evidence of being well fertilized. According to him, a little further inquiry revealed that the fertilizer all these farms……including the certified organic farm…….was chicken manure from a local chicken farm…..and what chemicals, antibiotics, etc were used…..we don’t know.
Just another reason why it is so important to know the source. Buying Local is a great way to know what you are eating.
